Retainers include Hawley Retainers, Begg Retainers and Barrer appliances. Both fitted and smooth arch construction available.

Bonded retainers are also available, usually in the lower anterior region lingual 3 to 3.

Trutain retainers are pressure formed using thermoplastic sheets on a Biostar machine.

The advantage of the Biostar is that the side of the sheet which is heated is applied to the model giving better detail.

For the support stage following Twin Block therapy a Hawley Retainer with a steep incline plane is available to maintain the forward position of the mandible.
